Hi and welcome!
I am Valeria, an Italian Landscape Architect turned Ceramicist.
I have been a ceramicist for seven years, and for the past two I have been teaching both individuals and groups.
My work has been celebrated by the Ashmolean Museum Shop’s Team, and in 2022 I won a collaboration with the museum at Handmade in Oxford by Handmade in Britain. In 2023, I received the Country Living Editor’s Choice Award at the Country Living Christmas Fair in London, and in 2024 I exhibited in Feast at County Hall Pottery Gallery, London.
I love sharing my passion for clay through relaxed and welcoming workshops, whether in my home studio, at larger venues, or through one-to-one tuition in both hand-building and throwing. In my sessions I guide participants through techniques and creative exploration, encouraging everyone to develop their own ideas at their own pace. Whether working individually, with small groups, or larger gatherings, I bring the same enthusiasm, attention, and personable approach — creating an inspiring space to unwind, learn, and let creativity take shape in clay.
My ceramics are to be considered unique pieces – since none is equal to the others – to be mixed and matched for a vibrant Mediterranean style table. Each piece is individually made and decorated by hand, either thrown on the potter’s wheel or hand-built, aiming at elegance through simplicity. I also mix my own clay body, using various stoneware clays and porcelain, to achieve a personal canvas to work on with minimal patterns.
My work is inspired by memories of the Mediterranean and its cultural heritage, combined with the subtle lines of Japanese design and aesthetics. Traditional antique shapes are reimagined and playfully turned into refined, contemporary pieces. Celebrating nature – water, botany, clouds, wild landscapes – and awakening emotions, my ceramics are made to forge new memories with family and friends.
